Petanque can be played MANY places, that is what makes it very versatile for travelers. As long as the surface is fairly hard-packed and somewhat level (to keep the boules from rolling on and on and on….), it will work. Use your imagination!
For example, a gravel walkway in a public park can be a great place to play. So can an empty site in an RV park. If you are RV/Van boondocking out in the wilderness or on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land, there are LOTS of areas with some hard-packed dirt or grass you can play on.
