Suitable Places to Play
Here are a few pictures of places where pétanque can be played, to give you some ideas.. As long as the surface is fairly hard-packed and somewhat level (to keep the boules from rolling on and on and on….), it will work. So avoid deep sand (the boules won’t roll) or soft grass (the boules will make dents in the soil and won’t roll well either).
Use your imagination!
For example, a gravel walkway in a public park can be a great place to play. So can a gravel driveway, or an empty site in an RV park. If you like camping with your van or RV out in the wilderness, there are LOTS of areas with some hard-packed dirt or grass you can play on.
